- ac = ally chat, often said to remind all players to check the ally chat box.

- Acad is an Academy.

- ae means "ally end"
- Ally Lurkers is a trick never used, since the hold lurkers trick is much easier to execute. Ally lurkers is to burrow some lurkers somewhere and ally your enemy. When he walks across your lurkers you un-ally again, starting to kill off what he has got. See Hold unit trick, and Hold lurkers for more efficient strategies.
Ally Lurkers--结盟地刺是一个不再使用的小把戏。现在地刺都用hold大法。ally lurkers就是地刺埋下后和你对手结盟，当他经过地刺上面的时候你再取消结盟，lurker就会开始攻击了。
- Ally mines is either to lay a lot of mines somewhere, then ally your enemy. Then wait for the enemy troops to stand above the mines, and un-ally. All mines popup right under the feet killing all troops instantly. The other way is to lay two rows of mines, and then un-ally your ally. Let him run with a speed-zealot, or a fast zergling between the mines, making them chase him into an enemy base. It is very hard to pull this off. (See also ally lurkers)

- Bunker-less Defence is a build formation popularised by Heartcutter, it involves sealing a Siege Tank and Missile Turret into a confined area. This area becomes so tightly packed that it is impossible to drop units inside, and melee units cannot reach the Siege Tank within. Bunker-less Defences are most commonly found protecting the mineral line. The purpose of Bunker-less Defence is to provide a more efficient all-purpose defence than a standard Bunker would provide, while making good use of Supply Depots. This is also a Terran vs. Protoss strategy.

- a "Clan" is a group of players, who are playing under a clan-name. The clan-name is often added to the players nicks in brackets like so: (GG). A clan can contain from two to hundreds of players. Many clans have a set of rules that must be followed by its members.

- to "Cliff" someone or "Cliffing" in general, is to place ranged units on a hill overlooking a strategic important location, like an expansion. Thereby hindering the enemy from expanding.(See "Turbo newbie")

- Cloning the ability to select a group of one type of spell caster, cast the desired spell on a target, deselect onecaster, target the spell on a different target, and repeat until all casters have separate targets. It is an effective alternative to excessive hot keying. This requires some distance between the casters and the targets to prevent redundant castings. Often done with lockdown.Another type is Peon cloning which is similar to standard spell caster cloning, but uses the four opening workers you are given at the start of a map. Use identical cloning techniques to separate workers onto different mineral patches, increasing opening economy by a substantial amount over a player who does not clone his peons.

- Comp refers to a computer player.

- Comp-stomp also called 7v1. Are games where 7 persons ally and attack oneComputer controlled player, in order to get better stats fast. These games usually contain a lot of backstab.

- Containment means to surround your enemys base and prevent him from leaving his base, while you expand throughout the map. Usually executed with tanks or lurkers.

- Cracklings are Zerglings with the Adrenal Glands and Metabolic Boost upgrades. Some also say they shall have full upgrades to 3-3.

- Dance is to move damaged units backwards, saving them before they die, and spreading damage equally on your units.This also makes enemy units follow, which in turn gives your other units free hits on the following enemy unit. (Usually done with goons or a small number of marines)

- Deep6 is a controversial strategy developed by Heartcutter that involves widespread use of infantry units vs. Protoss enemies. It is far more specialised than Heavy Metal in that it requires more micromanagement with less general-purpose units. The theory and practice behind Deep6 is that Protoss units are almost all mechanical and susceptible to Lockdown. Lots of fast micro is required to achieve success with Deep6, which centers around 3/3 Marines and Medics, Ghosts with all upgrades, and tactical Nukes. Many have discounted it as a viable strategy because of the micro involved.

- Drone-rush is to take all or some of your workers and attack your enemy, usually really early. (same with scv-rush and probe-rush)

- F4, Some people still believe that pressing the “F4”-key speeds up the downloading of maps. This is plain wrong. Pressing F4 does nothing.

- Fast Map a map where the command centre/ nexus/hatch has been moved right next to the minerals, so that the peons can deliver the minerals instantly.Can be made with SCXE.

- Hold unit trick. Most units have the ability to be ordered on hold, by hitting the H-key. Some units lack this ability, lurkers and workers for example, but there is a way around this.By grouping such a unit together with a hold-able unit, and the press hold, both units will be on hold.Sometimes you would want a SCV under a tree in the middle of a map. Yoy don't want it to wander, So, select it with a marine, and hit H. This keeps the SCV from wandering. After that, you can move the marine around or command it to attack. Since you don't have the SCV selected with the marine, the SCV will still stay Held in place. The same goes for lurkers. Group a lurker together with an overlord, and press H.Now the lurker won’t attack anything until it is ordered to attack again. This means that you can wait until a horde of marines are exactly on top of the lurker, and then press attack.Another trick for defending a ramp is to use 2 or 3 SCV’s on the ramp and the 3 or 4 marines behind. After you select them and hit H to hold, lift a barracks and fly it over the SCV’s hitting "S" precisely when the building covers the SCV’s from view. Now, the enemy cannot Attack-click the SCV’s directly. Melee units will wander up and down since they will be targeting the marines but the SCV’s block their path on the ramp and ranged enemy units can’t be ordered to attack the SCV’s either.

- Lag hack, a hack that makes the game lag so horrible you have to leave the game, or suffer hours of slow-motion gaming.

- Late-game is the portion of the game where players have access to all units and technologies at the end of a race's tech tree. (see also mid-game.)

- a "Clan" is a group of players, who are playing under a clan-name. The clan-name is often added to the players nicks in brackets like so: (GG). A clan can contain from two to hundreds of players. Many clans have a set of rules that must be followed by its members.

Some units lack this ability, lurkers and workers for example, but there is a way around this.By grouping such a unit together with a hold-able unit, and the press hold, both units will be on hold.Sometimes you would want a SCV under a tree in the middle of a map. Yoy don't want it to wander, So, select it with a marine, and hit H. This keeps the SCV from wandering. After that, you can move the marine around or command it to attack. Group a lurker together with an overlord, and press H.Now the lurker won’t attack anything until it is ordered to attack again. This means that you can wait until a horde of marines are exactly on top of the lurker, and then press attack.Another trick for defending a ramp is to use 2 or 3 SCV’s on the ramp and the 3 or 4 marines behind. After you select them and hit H to hold, lift a barracks and fly it over the SCV’s hitting "S" precisely when the building covers the SCV’s from view. Now, the enemy cannot Attack-click the SCV’s directly. Melee units will wander up and down since they will be targeting the marines but the SCV’s block their path on the ramp and ranged enemy units can’t be ordered to attack the SCV’s either.
