As we all know, the environment around us is getting worse and worse. In some places we can't see fish swimming in the river or trees on the hills. Some people even have no clean water to drink. So I think we must do something to protect the environment. But what can we do? How to protect our environment? For example, we can go to school on foot or by bike instead of taking a car. We had better use shopping basketbets instead of plastic bags when we go shopping. We should use both sides of the paper when we write. Do't use paper cups. At our school dinning room, use our own bowls and chopsticks instead of disposable ones. We can reuse the water and save the electricity.In a word, if everyone pays more attention to our environment, there will be less pollution and our life will be better.
"There is only one earth", I hope everyone will protect our environment well.
周所周知，我们周围的环境变得越来越糟糕。有些地方我们看不到水了鱼儿在游泳， 山上不再有树。一些人甚至于没有干净的饮用水。因此我们必须做些事情来保护环境。我们能做什么呢？如何保护环境？例如，我们可以走着或骑车去上学，而不乘车。我们卖东西最好使用购物蓝而不用塑料袋。我们写字时要两面的纸张都用。不用纸杯子。在学校食堂，不用一次性筷子，要用自己的碗和筷子。我们再次用水，节约电。总之，如果人人都注意环境，污染会更少，我们的生活会更好。“只有一个地球”，我希望人人都能很好地保护环境。

With summer yet to come this year, we have already been feeling the anomaly of the climate change. Surging temperature in Sydney has sparkled fear of bush fire comparing to the tragedy happened in Victoria last year. Downpour in Melbourne one day last week has exceeded the monthly average for November and has caused appalling inconvenience and damage.

Many believe that the abnormal climate has been caused by human's own acts of destruction as we over-use energy thus causing global warming with its detrimental effect spilling over the entire world. The world has now becomes very conscious about the issue and all nations are trying hard to contain the problem. An international climate conference to be held 7th-18th December in Copenhagen Denmark will be attended by an overwhelming number of world leaders from more than 65 countries, despite the two biggest carbon dioxide emitters (United States and China) have not confirmed that their respective presidents Obama and Hu Jintao will turn up. We hope that this conference will be able to unite the world in addressing this emission problem.

In terms of strategic policy, we should demand individual government to work out and implement policies that could help regulating climate change; in the next federal election we should closely examine the stance of individual candidate in this regard. In personal terms, on our daily activities we should exercise self constraint in saving energy. Over the past 3 months we have been publishing through a special 'Green Home' section the messages of 'saving the environment'. We want our readers to be aware of the various measures available as recommended and sponsored by the Australian government in playing our roles in this important global issue.

We hope we could invite more contribution of articles sharing this very topic of environmental protection.

今年还未进入夏季，大家便已感到天气的反常。雪梨的酷热，引起了人对山火的警觉，特别去年维州山林大火惨剧记忆犹新，相信雪梨居民不会掉以轻心。同时间，上周墨尔本大雨，一天雨量已高出十一月平均总雨量，豪雨也造成交通及各种破坏。
不少人相信气候反常，是由于人类对环境破坏及大量使用能源，引致地球变暖而诱发，全世界没有一处地方可以独善其身，因此现时全世界都要重视环境保育，盼望能舒缓气候变化引起的祸害。下月七日至十八日，在丹麦哥本哈根举行的联合国气候会议，将会有超过65个国家元首席，虽然世界两大二氧化碳排放国家美国及中国领导人奥巴马及胡锦涛仍未答应出席，但其它国家领导人「超标」出席，相信可能促使会议至少能为统一世界要面对的问题，跨进一步。我们相信，减排是世界关注的主要问题之一，盼望这一次会议能为全世界带来盼望。
在宏观政策方面，个人可以要求所在国家政府，订定政策，协助解决气候变化这一个问题。相信在未来联邦政府大选，我们更会关注候选人的环保政策。在个人层面，我们也可以身体力行，过节约环保的生活。过去三个月，我们曾刊出「绿色家庭」专栏，提出在生活中，如何可以节约环保，并且把澳洲政府提供支持家庭中推动环保生活的各种拨款政策，也是《同路人》同仁盼望读者能多关注的事。
我们盼望日后能邀请更多作者，为读者分享更多环保这一个主题的看法。

The world in which we live is a very beautiful world .About seventeenths of the earth is water while
three-tenths is land.
What a beautiful day: The sun is shining and the sky is so blue .The land ,oceans, mountains and rivers ,plants and animals …everything looks bright and gay .The sun gives us light ,keeps us warm and makes things grow.
Sometimes , White clouds are like ships sailing across the sky .
Sometimes, the dark clouds bring us rain or snow. Sometimes, after the rain ,you can see a very beautiful rainbow across the sky.
At night, we can see thousands of stars and sometimes ,the big round moon .The dark sky dotted with bright stars is like a picture! There is so much to see in our beautiful world.

我们的美丽世界
我们居住的地球是个非常美丽的世界。地球的十分之七是水，十分之三是陆地。多美丽的一天：
阳光普照，天空是那样的蔚蓝。陆地，海洋，山脉，河流，植物和动物…..一切看上去都明亮而愉快。
太阳给予我们光，使我们温暖，使万物生长。时而白云像航行过天空的船只，时而黑云给我们带来雨水或白雪。有时候雨过天晴，你还可以看到非常美丽的彩虹，横跨天际。夜晚，我们能看到成千上万的星星，有时还有又大又圆的月亮。点缀着闪亮星星的夜空，多像一幅画啊！我们美丽的世界呀，有着这么多事物让我们欣赏！
