3.23 LUBRICATION
3.23.1 Oil lubrication shall be provided for enclosed gear trains and speed reducers in accordance with section3.14 .
3.23.2 Lubrication of other mechanical operating parts shall be means of a high pressure gun . Buttonhead type grease fittings made of brass , monel or stainless steel shall be used throughout . This requirement does not apply to bearings where overgreasing can damage the equipment , such as an electric motor . Special lubrication fittings shall be used in these case that can be accessed only by specially trained personnel with the proper lubrication equipment .
3.23.3 Electrical motors shall include automatic lubrication with pressurized ( and drained) Simalube type grease tank at each fitting. Gantry motors bearings shall be sealed type whenever possible. Hoist, trolley and boom main motors , as well as hydraulic systems , should be greasable as described above .
3.23.4 The lubricating fittings of journals or bearings shall be readily accessible . Grease fittings shall be gathered at the same place as much as possible by means of stainless steel tubing for convenient lubrication .
3.23.5 Only one size and type of lubricating fitting shall be used except for special equipment as allowd by 3.23.2 above .All fittings shall be plainly visible and accessible .
3.23.6 The Contractor shall furnish and install lubricants and hydraulic fluid in sufficient quantities for initial lubrication of the crane .
3.23.7 The crane shall be lubricated with product of either mobil or shell .
3.23.8 Oil samples shall be taken from each reducer and hydraulic power uint during field testing . See section 9 .
3.23.9 The Contractor shall provide at crane acceptance a listing of all lubricants installed in the crane .
10.3 AUTOMATIC LUBRICTION SYSTEM
10.3.1 If this technical option is exercised , a centralized automatic grease lubrication system(s) shall be supplied at the gantry level with the exception of motors and couplings .
10.3.2 The system shall have the following feature :
Dual line
Electric pump
High/Low pressure alarms tied into the CMS
Manual adjustment of individual lubrication supply rates of each supply point
Stainless steel distribution lines and manifold blocks
Reservoir fill point accessible from ground level
Tank level full/empty signal light next to fill point and tied into the CMS
Sufficient resevior size to minimize refilling frequency
10.3.3 The Bidder’s Proposal shall contain a full description of the system offered .
10.3.4 The system shall be subject to the Engineer’s approval .
