A: 从 12 月 24 日 于翌年 1 月 6 日为圣诞节节期。节日期间，各国基督教徒都举行隆重的纪念仪式。圣诞节本来是基督教徒的节日，由于人们格外重视，它便成为一个全民性的节日，是西方国家一年中最盛大的节日，可以和新年相提并论，类似我国过春节。
B ： What colour is the Christmas ？西方人以红、绿、白三色为圣诞色，圣诞节来临时家家户户都要用圣诞色来装饰。红色的有圣诞花和圣诞蜡烛。
A ：绿色的是圣诞树。它是圣诞节的主要装饰品，用砍伐来的杉、柏
一类呈塔形的常青树装饰而成。上面悬挂着五颜六色的彩灯、礼物和纸花，还点燃着圣诞蜡烛。
B ：红色与白色相映成趣的是圣诞老人，他是圣诞节活动中最受欢迎的人物。西方儿童在圣诞夜临睡之前，要在壁炉前或枕头旁放上一只袜子，等候圣诞老人在他们入睡后把礼物放在袜子内。在西方，扮演圣诞老人也是一种习俗。
A ：正像中国人过春节吃年夜饭一样，欧美人过圣诞节也很注重全家人围坐在圣诞树下，共进节日美餐。圣诞大餐吃火鸡的习俗始于 1620 年。这种风俗盛于美国。英国人的圣诞大餐是烤鹅，而非火鸡。澳大利亚人爱在平安夜里，全家老小约上亲友成群结队地到餐馆去吃一顿圣诞大腊鸡、烧牛仔肉和猪腿必不可少，同时伴以名酒，吃得大家欢天喜地。

B ：当然，它们分别是 Sunday ， Monday ， Tuesday ， Wednesday ， Thursday ， Friday and Saturday.
A ：那你们知道它们的由来吗？今天的将向大家介绍一下英语中各星期名称的来历。
B ：你们知道吗？大多数欧洲国家的语言都源自拉丁语，英语中一周七天的名称也与拉丁语有着密切的联系。在讲英语的国家里，一周七天的名称大部分是根据拉丁语翻译而来的，翻译时用北欧神话中的神名代替罗马神名代替罗马神名。
A ： Sunday （星期日），这是一周中的第一天。太阳（ sun ）在北欧人的心目中是极其神圣的。为了表示对太阳的敬仰，人们把每周的第一天命名为 Sunday 。
B ： Monday （星期一），这是一周中的第二天。为了表达对月亮（ moon ）的敬仰，人们把这一天称作 moon day ，后来演变成 Monday 。
A ： Tuesday （星期二），这是一周的第三天。北欧神话里有一个战神名叫 Tyr ，他机智勇敢，用一些奇异的材料制成一条项链，他用这条项链将狼精缚住，换回了人类的平安。为了纪念他，英语中就以他的名字命名星期二。 Tyr 在古英语中写成 Tiw ，这一天就叫做 Tiwesdaeg ，即 Tiw ’ s day （战神日），后来演变成 Tuesday 。
B ： Wednesday （星期三），是以北欧神话中的主神 Woden 的名字命名的。 Woden 是北欧神话中掌管文化、艺术、战争等的最高神，他以行动迅速、能言善辩闻名。 Woden 是战神的父亲，又是风暴之神，他曾将战死者的英灵邀至天堂，代之以人间的娱乐。星期三以 Woden, 的名字命名，古英语写作 Wodensdaeg ，即“ the day of Woden ”。
A ： Thursday （星期四），是以北欧神话中的雷神 Thor 的名字命名的。 Thor 是北欧神话中最强大、最勇敢的神，他驾驶着山羊拉的战车掠过天空，制造出雷电，是雷电之神。
B ： Friday （星期五），是以“爱神“的名字命名的。北欧神话中的“爱神、婚姻女神”叫做 Frigga ，相当于罗马神话中的“维纳斯”。
她是 Woden 的妻子。人们用她丈夫的名字命名星期三，用她儿子（ Thor ）的名字命名星期四，为了抚慰 Frigga 本人，人们便以她的名字命名了星期五。
