The wines from Palatinate region (Pfalz) are synonymous of a rich history, of a tradition
and an art of wine-making which has several centuries behind.
The beauty of the scenery and its mild climate used to inspire artisans, painters and the
king himself. Ludwig I of Bavaria built here his summer residence Villa Ludwigshöhe.
Inspired by the luxuriant nature of the area, German leading impressionist painter Max
Slevogt - whose work are showcased in the villa - portrayed the beautiful vineyards of
Pfalz, scenes of everyday life in the countryside which still survive in reality in unique
medieval villages like Rhodt and Deidesheim. A tradition of wine-making which dates back
to the 13th century left its marks in the old alleys, in the buildings and shops’ signs and in
the unique taste of local wine.
We can try to deliver this message in a 5-8mins atmospheric video which shift back and
forth from the vineyard, the grapes, the wine, the paintings and the outstanding visual
characteristics which made this place the ideal land for fine wine.
We start from the Palatinate forest, then we get to Ludwig Villa, its amazing view on and its
collection of paintings... which become the reality of the region: the grapes, the long rows
in the vineyards, images of old medieval towns and wine shops in Rhodt and Deidesheim,
and again the cycling route through the vineyards.
We can also imagine to have a young couple walking through these places, tasting a glass
of wine, looking at the vineyards at sunset from the balcony where Luwig I used to stand.
I would accompany the whole video with a track of German classical music, i.e. the
Allegretto of the 2nd movement of Beethoven’s 7th symphony, which gives a feeling of
strength but also a refreshing and relaxing effect.
Anyway since, according to your brief, the video is mostly going to be showcased in
situations where the sound cannot be more than a background (after presentation
meeting, big malls screens), I would use simple and very synthetic graphics (texts on
screen i.e. on the palatine forest “Pfalz, German finest land of wines”; on a front view of
Ludwig I’s villa “Here the king Ludwig I admired the vineyards and the beauty of Pfalz
landscape, tasting a cup of wine bla bla bla”)
