Yet immature mindset
First year students show a strong link between their ability to listen to and speak English and their psychological status. Sometimes the same student may have different understanding of learning English at different stages in life and this, in turn, result in a difference in the ability to understand and speak English.
Having just been released from the pressure of the heavy load from high school study, quite some students have not yet formed a stable value and life attitude, nor can they make sound judgement about themselves. Therefore they can easily develop in all kinds of directions with proper guidance. Most first year students, being under the pressure from high school learning, they haven't had the time or energy to know the society in depth and to understand the meaning of life. They may feel very much at loss at the total change of the way of learning from high school to college. If we can provide motivational and directive lessons, seminars and lectures, we can accelerate the maturity of their mindset and, at the same time, help them understand some meanings of life. This will have long and big impact on their studies and career in the future.追问
