Television has changed people's life much since it was invented. Now it has become one important part of modern life.

People enjoy themselves after hard work by watching TV. They can see some plays, some stories, some sports matches without going out of home, and without spending much money in buying tickets. TV programmes make people's life more interesting.

People learn much from TV, students can study by watching some educational programmes. People can see news, weather reports, programmes about science and computers. People all over the world can learn from each other and get knowledge when they are watching TV.

But not all the programmes are good enough. Today, there are too much programmes about sex and crime. Some people become bad because they learn from the bad people in those programmes. And watching TV usually takes too much time. It's not good for people's work and study. It's not good for their eyes, either.

People all over the world are watching TV. Is watching TV a good thing or a bad one? I think it depends on people themselves. If one can choose good programmes and he doesn't spend too much time on TV, it can be a good thing for him.

A group of communications specialists recently investigated the percentage of the English population of the radio and TV from October to December of 1992. The findings were very interesting.
10% to 20% of the population listens to the radio in the morning,from 6 to 12:30 or 1 pm. Less than 10% watches TV. This may be explained by the fact that the English have long been used to, and still interested in, news of sports and economy, etc. From 1 pm to midnight, more people sit in front of the screen. The early evening hours may be called TV time for the country, because as many as 50% of the English nation (over 4 years of age) fixes their eyeballs on the boob tube. They switch from one show to another, for information or entertainment. The typical English needs for the theatre art can be satisfied only by TV — there are always plays shown from Shakespeare to Tennessee.

There are a lot of complaints about TV after TV’s introduction to our life. Some people say that TV leads to the lack of communication among their family. Others say that TV has a great influence on their children’s study. All these comments imply that TV is not a good thing to us and introducing it to our life is wrong. However, I don’t agree those at all. To my experience, the advantages of TV outweigh the disadvantages.

First, TV adds color to my routine life. Before TV being introduced to our life, my family had few entertainments in the night. Sometimes we went out for a walk. Sometimes we read books and newspaper. These activities are recycle day after day., which is too dull and to boring. After TV was introduces to our life, my life changed. We can choose different programs according to our taste. News program broaden our horizon, movie gives us fun. In other word, TV enriches our life.

Second, TV gives my family more opportunity to communicate with each other. Without TV, the topics we often discuss are my study, careers and my relatives. But when the TV appeared, we could express our ideas on the development of the stories, give comments on the international events and so on. The more topics we talk, the more communication we have.

Last but not least, TV is a mean of us to relax. After hard working or learning, we all want to release ourselves. We can choose to sleep, listen to music etc. Watching TV also helps us to relax. Comedies, movies or traveling program can make our happy and ease our burden.

A coin has two sides. TV also has some disadvantages. TV may distract my attention when I am learning. Watching TV too much is harm to my sight.

Though TV has some negative impact on my life, we can not deny that it gives me more fun and interest.
