我口语考试时用的，不知道你要求的难度如何。当时我们也是5分钟左右完成的对话。
这篇主题是：美食。
A: What do you have for your breakfast?
B: At breakfast, I usually have steamed bread, bean curd and some milk.
A: That’s very nice. I always take a hamburger on the way to work, and sometimes I just skip my breakfast because I don’t have enough time.
B: I see. Speed is becoming a more and more important factor in our daily life. But you shouldn’t skip breakfast, which does harm to your health.
A: I know. But I will usually take my time eating a big lunch or a big dinner as compensation.
B: What do you eat then?
A: Well, I often go to a restaurant near my company to enjoy my meal, which serves Sichuan cuisine by the way.
B: So you like spicy food ha?
A: Yes. I like Sichuan cuisine very much. Besides its spicy-hot flavor, it features a wide range of materials, various seasonings and different cooking techniques.
B: Really?
A: Yeah, statistics show that the number of Sichuan dishes has surpassed 5000.
B: What a huge number!
A: Yes, it must have a very long history. So what about you? What kind of food do you like?
B: As far as I’m concerned, I prefer Yangzhou cuisine best.
A: Yangzhou cuisine? You mean food just in Yangzhou city, or somewhere else?
B: Generally speaking, Yangzhou cuisine bases itself largely on the three local cooking styles of Yangzhou, Nanjing and Suzhou, all within Jiangsu Province.
A: I see. It has a sweet flavor to some extent.
B: Yes, and it features carefully selected ingredients while emphasizing the original flavors of well-chosen materials.
A: And it also looks good.
B: Absolutely. Yangzhou cuisine always has artistic shapes and bright colors, which makes it more attractive.
A: I get it. Just as the old Chinese saying goes, good dishes are supposed to be a perfect combination of “color, aroma, taste and appearance”.
B: That’s why I like Yangzhou cuisine. It’s essentially a combination of the best elements of northern and southern cooking.
A: Now I’m thinking it’s so lucky for us to live in China.
B: I agree. As we know, China just enjoys a worldwide reputation as the “kingdom of cuisine”. And in some western countries, such as America, you can just eat pizza, hamburger, meat, and potatoes again and again.
A: Not really. In fact, many changes have taken place in American’s food styles.
B: Really? What changes?
A: First of all, in the past, America is traditionally famous for its very solid and unchanging diet of meat and potatoes. But now, you can have many different alternatives to choose from, such as various ethnic foods, nutrition-balanced health food, and convenient and delicious fast food, in addition to the traditional home-cooked meal.
B: I see. I know there are a lot of ethnic restaurants in US serving international cooking, such as Chinese food, Italian food, Japanese food and so on.
A: You are right. And with the vast ethnic choice, you can just enjoy food from all over the world.
B: I see. But what do you mean by “health food”, is it just an opposite term compared with junk food?
A: Not really. Health food includes natural food with minimal processing. That is too say ,there are no preservatives to help it last longer or other chemicals to make it taste or look better.
B: I get it. It seems that people have pay more and more attention on physical well-being these years.
A: Absolutely. And most health food enthusiasts are vegetarians.
B: Vegetarians? They don’t eat meat, do they?
A: No, they don’t. They prefer to get their essential proteins form other sources, such as beans, cheese and eggs.
B: I totally respect on their choices, but I just can’t do that.
A: Neither can I.
B: OK. It’s time for dinner. I know there is a new restaurant open in the street. Would you like to go with me?
A: Sure. My pleasure.
B: And by the way, what do you think of eating places ? Do you have some special prefers besides food?
A: Well, while choosing a restaurant, I’ll probably focus on the service and atmosphere.
B: So do I. The service should be good, which will make you more pleasant.
A: And the atmosphere should be relaxing that you can forget all your trouble, just enjoy your food and have a good time.
B: I can’t agree with you more. And the price is also important.
A: You are right. Food, service, atmosphere, price should all be taken into consideration while choosing a restaurant.
B: Yes. OK. Time is up. Let’s go.
A: All right.
