With the development of computer networks, webmails have become an essential part in the process of transferring information in networks. JAVA-based webmail system adopts B/S structure, which avoids the original drawbacks of C/S framework. Besides, JAVA-based Webmail is developed from the current popular JAVA language and opensource frame work - SSH. Mail servers uses the free and opensource Apache James mail servers, which supports STMP and POP3 protocol. As to data storage, it utilizes the most widely-used Oracle database.

During the analysis and design of the whole system, the author thoroughly analyzes the functional procedures and functional discussion of the Webmail system, and presents various functional modules of the users in a very specific way. During the part of system implementation, the paper discusses the implementary methods of different modules. Finally, the author carries out a test on the system from the perspective of software engineering.

JAVA-based WebMail system Design and Implementation
In view of the advancement of the computer networks, e-mail has become an
indispensable component of information transfer on the internet.
The JAVA based Web mail system is developed by adopting the B/S structure that
avoids the drawbacks of the original C/S system and by applying the open source
SSH framework with the currently popular JAVA language. The mail server
is the Apache James which is free, open source, and it supports the STMP and
POP3 protocols; for data storage, the most widely used Oracle database is adopted.

This paper presents the tools, language and environment for the development of this
JAVA-based Web mail system; and it meticulously describes the basic functions and
design methodology of the system’s registration, login, administration, sending
and receiving e-mails. In the analysis and design of the whole system, the
Webmail system’s functional processes and functional analysis are elucidated in
details, and each function module of the users is specifically demonstrated. In
the implementation of the system, this paper describes the methodology of implementing
every module. Finally, the system is tested by applying software engineering
techniques.
